How Do You Give a Smile?

Times are tough for small businesses right now and it’s even harder for charities and other not-for-profit organizations. Government funding is being cut, donations are at a record low and demand is constantly rising for the services these organizations provide. Over half of all charities whose services help people to deal with the effects of the recession have seen demand for their services increase. Many charities are working hard to maintain their services with even less funding than they had expected. Over forty percent of charities have received less support in the last three months than they had budgeted for. Most charities are not counting on an increase of funding or donations going into 2011.
Recently The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island experienced extreme cuts in government funding making it difficult to meet their annual budget and perform repairs on the House. The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill children seeking medical attention at area hospitals, providing a comfortable and supportive environment while helping families through their most difficult time.
In an effort to raise money for The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Scotto Brothers’ has elected to hold a Casino Night fund raising event where all proceeds will go direct to the House. We hope that you will join them on Thursday November 11, 2010 from 7pm-11pm at The Chateau in Carle Place, NY for an exciting evening with food, drinks, live entertainment, gaming & giveaways! Admission is $100 per person, and sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Re: How Do You Give a Smile?
Times are proving to be tough not just for the general public but the not-for profit community at large. I am spearheading the Casino Night fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island and it has been one of the toughest projects I have worked on in a really long time. Getting donations for raffle and auction were easy but it has been a struggle to ask people to reach into their pockets and make a substantial donation of $100. What some of us might not realize is that The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island must cover its operating expenses through private donations and contributions. They provide a Home to families of seriously ill children seeking medical attention at area hospitals so they can be near their children and not have the strain of travel. Emotional stress and drain can be devastating, so for the children having their parents and family members near by, well rested and in a good frame of mind while they are together can make a direct impact on the child’s outlook. Let's come together and help those who are less fortunate. Our donations will make a direct impact on The House so they can continue to support families while they are going through a difficult time.
