Picking the Right Team

I recently fielded a team and attempted to defend my title at the Hofstra Alumni Basketball game this weekend. We played incredibly well thanks to Ed, Gary, Steve and Danny; my ringers. In fact we made it back to the finals and battled it out with a seven footer and his team. We were team Basso On Business and our opponents were called ThingsThatRymeWithUrple. We kept the lead most of the game, but with three minutes left we missed a few shots and a few were blocked by their big man. We came up short and lost by 3. I thought we would have played well, but did not think we would make it back to the finals.
Now I was certainly not the best player, but I did help select a team that got us back to the finals. You don't have to be the best in business either, but you do need to have some skills picking the right partners, vendors and staff members. Hiring, training and maintaining a good team of any kind takes determination and a constant forward motion and effort. Every human being is different and may need a bit of a different tactic than the other. You still need a system; you just need it to bent and twist when you need it to.
I hope you find yourself back in the finals for that top notch employee, that client you have been hunting for or maybe even that elusive sports title you have always wanted. Whatever it is, you need to have the skills to pick the right team.
